ABOUT METALDAYS
MetalDays Festival is a unique music event; since 2013, over 12.000 metalheads from more than 70 different countries from all over the world come to one place - MetalDays festival. Located in Slovenia, at Lake Velenje, the festival offers the best of both worlds : amazing nature and welcoming surroundings, joined with the best artists and bands that the metal genre has to offer. MetalDays is one of the central metal events in this part of Europe, attracting a massive international audience of thousands of fans from Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, the Mediterranean countries, and Slovenia. This is, among other things, due to the carefully crafted conjunction of a musical experience with a tourist one.
The festival takes place at Lake Velenje, and merges the unique concept of metal music event with festival holidays, the concept which was invented and pioneered by MetalDays festival since its beginning. Its programme represents a wide variety of genres and sub-genres of metal with the addition of hardcore influenced styles in the whole week gathering of bands performing on 5 festival stages. Friendly and absolutely relaxed atmosphere, perfect for you to just forget about all worries and enjoy your most likely best holiday ever!
Key challenges
New location in y2023. Before that, the festival took place at Sotočje, Tolmin for over a decade, new environment, new teams, sub-contractors etc.

Unique concept of so called "metal hoildays", where the best and most elite bands from heavy metal genre are merged with a full week of joy and fun at the Lake Velenje. Swimming, metal fitness (Metalza), yoga, paddle boarding, floaties and more...delicious cuisine, friends that become a family. The festival is one week long, which differs us from other music festivals, which are ussualy just over the weekend or couple of days. So the whole concept is, people actually use their summer holidays and come to visit us at our festival.

- we have over 12.000 visitors from over 80 different countries, more than 130 artists and bands, 4 festival stages
Since 2008, festival MetalDays has been on the ecology mission, pioneering the world in ecology, sustainability, and circular economy at music festivals and events. :
- Year 2008 : we started with providing biodegradable tent pegs free of charge for our visitors, to use them on our festival camping grounds
- Garbage deposit system: encourages and engages our visitors to actively participate in cleaning the festival grounds, trash separation and recycling.
- NO PLASTIC festival movement. We use reusable or biodegradable cups, spoons, forks, plates, straws,... only!
- Toilet paper, napkins, paper towels are made from recycled and organic materials, where main source of cellulose are recycled Tetra-Pak packages
- Clean, drinking water available for free throughout the festival area
- Complete ban on fossil fuel generators use at the festival area
- Green Camp with upcycled cardboard pre-pitched tents, solar powered phone charging stations …and much more.
