Event Description and Key Objectives

The “FUZBAL by Promotiva” event featuring the largest table football in Slovenia took place in the Citycenter Celje shopping centre during the EURO 2024 football championship. The event was intended for participants of all generations, including those who needed a short break from shopping, those who came to hang out with friends in the centre and who wanted to experience something new, and those who came to the centre for the purpose of admiring the largest table football in Slovenia. During the week, the table football was set up and used by visitors for free play, while both weekends were reserved for additional organised competitions of registered teams. The objective of the event was to offer a unique activity in Slovenia which coincided with the current sporting euphoria that charmed the entire Europe and that could be supported with a good marketing story.

Key challenges

The key global “from idea to realisation” challenge was an extremely short deadline for the realisation of the project. We successfully overcame the challenge by choosing reliable business partners, since the entire project was designed and implemented in Slovenia. In addition, the possibility of rapidly changing any materials that were difficult to obtain with sustainably-oriented materials in stock was also of key importance. When creating weekend events, the time slots had to be consolidated with the free time slots of presenters from the local radio station Radio Fantasy, seeing as this allowed us to create an even better fan atmosphere at the event. For safety reasons, the project had to be entirely installed in the centre during the night, when the centre was closed, meaning there was no margin of error, seeing as the stores were closed and it was not possible to buy any necessary replacement parts.

Creativity

The playing pieces were numbered just like the players of the Slovenian football team. The pieces were all of different forms, thereby illustrating diversity. All elements of the biggest table football were ready to be quickly assembled and set up, which in turn allowed for an easy transport. Since the project was adjustable in height, table football could be played by different generations. Using the official EURO 2024 football design, the project was brought even closer to the current football euphoria.

Innovation

FUZBAL by Promotiva is a unique product and an example of the largest table football in Slovenia. The layout of the playing pieces on pipes (offsets, sizes, weights, appearance) was precisely calculated. When setting up pipes, we developed a safety element using playing pieces since the pipe cannot poke out on the other side but blends into the mechanism instead. In doing so, we prevented potential injuries of the person standing at the other end of the tip (such as getting hit in the stomach, or a child getting hit in the head).

Execution

In a very short time, the project manager has gathered a trustworthy team of permanent business partners with whom we have built genuine relationships. With a sensible division of tasks, a professional approach and long-term experiences of each individual, we were able to implement the project for the client in such a short time. The client also played an important psychological role in the entire project since they trusted us completely, from the confirmation all the way through to the implementation, did not interfere with our work, and did not cause any additional stress. The greatest challenge in the entire chain of events was the supply of correct materials. At the same time, this problem was also resolved by the knowledge and experiences provided by the team, which even allowed for some of the materials to be replaced by other, more appropriate ones. Since we have a lot of experience with field implementation, we considered any logistical loops and also regularly resolved them as the table football project progressed, in order to have the entire equipment ready for a simple transport.

Measurable results

During the implementation of the event featuring the largest table football, we measured several individual and different segments together with the shopping centre. When the project was set up, approx. 128.000 people visited Citycenter Celje. According to information provided by the players, the number of goals increased day by day, meaning that people came back and tried various playing techniques. During organised competitions with a presenter, 145 matches were played by more than 800 players. One match lasts between 3 and 5 minutes.

Communication

After being presented to the client less than a month before its implementation, the event with the largest table football in Slovenia was added to the plan as an afterthought due to its outstanding appearance and its potential for creating a marketing “boom” which was known in advance. Various media channels were used to attract existing and potential visitors of the shopping centre. The communication was well-perceived, seeing as the project consisted of something new, unseen and unheard of before. The event was communicated through social media by the client and Promotiva, as well as through the local TV and radio station.

Sustainable practices

Massive and resistant materials were used for the implementation, which is why the project will be available for years to come. We developed a setup system allowing us to use the elements of this project in different projects and events. The playing field carpet is washable and reusable. In addition, purchasing a flooring surface of a better quality allows for the possibility of multiple recycled reuse. The project does not need electricity for its functioning. We only need one delivery vehicle to deliver the project and the team to the location of the event; in order to reduce carbon footprint, we also only invited local business partners to take part in the project.
