Event Description and Key Objectives

Zlatý Klinec, or translated- The Golden Nail, is the most important competition for the most creative advertising in Slovakia, which has been organised annually since 1994. The only brief this year was the theme: Age of AI. The client gave us complete freedom in the creative process, thus gave us with their trust, for which we are very grateful, because without it, it would not have happened.
 We used AI in every part, in every technical input: consultant in the creation of the creative, music dramaturgy, lyrics and script, creation of visuality and visuals, moderation and pre-event buzz.
 We set ourselves the goal - to take the quality of the event to an even higher level, to present A.I. responsibly to people from the advertising industry, to change the mood in society about AI. To introduce A.I. as a helping hand for people in the creative industry, not a scourge of employment, to break the fears and negative connotation. 
 It creates a space for symbiosis that opens the door to new, almost limitless possibilities that are expanding every day. And this is exactly what we have been able to confirm with the Golden Nail 2023 event.

Key challenges

During the time of our creation process, AI was still a foreign tool, which everyone was afraid of and could not properly work with. We decided to use it in every part of the creation process and so the long hours of editing, writing prompts and dividing the answers began. We luckily had a team of professionals selected specifically for this whole process, so we would truly stick to our word and try to symbiotically create an event, which would rewrite the whole negative idea about AI and creative industry. And so we did. Another challenge that came with common responsibility towards our planet and climate- we set ourselves a goal to make this event as sustainable as possible. That is the most important thing we were thinking about when designing the scenography- we used old cables collected all around Slovakia, recycled and used specifically for this event. Even now, long after the event happened, these cables are being used as a part of installation in Slovak National Gallery.

Creativity

This year we took a different approach to creativity. We wanted to excite, captivate and surprise our guests in order to revive the character of the Golden Nail event. We took a more artistic and technical approach to the creative process, approached artists from the independent scene and chose an atypical visual style for the event that was intended to disturb (in a positive sense). The artistic sensibility is inspired by new technologies and their interconnection within the work. The project reflects current events in the field of technology development, points out the dichotomy of reality and virtuality, the role of mechanics in evolution and thus points to possible futuristic scenarios of humanity and the preservation of our planet in different future conditions. We created a 3D model of AI, which was inspired by a paraphrase of how artificial intelligence works - a lot of constantly flowing information that we translated into a set of points. We represented these as luminous particles that are constantly forming and forming a perfect whole - thus giving us a materialization of AI itself. We created them using Unreal Engine 5.0 with Metahuman support. We also developed the hardware and stage design in collaboration with Ausgang Tech artists - a set of points of light that are constantly expanding. Paraphrasing into a cluster of cables that emanated from an LED wall that served as a display unit for the AI itself. These cables extended all the way above the audience itself. They created a dominance in the space and drew the viewer into the action itself. The entire live stream was run via Live-Link in collaboration with Nettle AI, who provided the AI real-time display on the support of just Unriel Engine 5.0: Metahuman and thus we were able to provide over two hours of screening. The presenter, who was presented as A.I. from the back-stage, was supported by a motion capture and mockup system, which we used to send the signal to the display unit. To ensure the greatest level of believability, we provided the presenter with capture cameras that we mirrored to him so that he could track the physical people on stage or in the auditorium with his gaze and react to them in real time. In this way we achieved the wow effect of the actual display and communication between A.I. and the human.

Innovation

We started with a thorough research of available AI tools. We had a lot of brainstorming sessions and set about preparing an event using AI. From research, to "consulting" with AI, preparing visuals for the event, creating a communication language via /prompt:, to the actual co-presenter duo, prepared using AI support for the creation of the 3D model, voice, music dramaturgy. Importantly, however, this event was not to be created by AI. It was to be created by a human with the help of AI, which took a position in our creative team and which we used as a tool to streamline the production. With her help, we increased the overall efficiency of the event production and improved the end result.

Execution

In terms of the whole project management, we gathered a team of skilled professionals from all around of Slovakia. It was not that easy, since we only had one month to execute this whole ceremony, but we managed to combine the skills of each and every professional individual to lead this event to client´s satisfaction and overall success of the event in the eyes of attendees as well. As for when it comes to the relations with the client, they gave us full trust in the whole process. We created a detailed time plan for the whole preparations, designing and execution of the event.

Measurable results

Thanks to our user generated content and whole pre event buzz, we managed to attract 20% more attendees than we planned, which caused incredible attendance of 1 000 creatives from the industry. Even now as we are preparing for this year´s Zlatý Klinec ceremony, we are experiencing higher demand in attendace, as the year 2023 was successfull. We see a wide post-event buzz and very positive feedback in the shift of the actual rendering of the event in agencies across Slovakia, but this is not measurable.

Communication

Before the event itself, we created a challenge that all agencies could participate in using A.I. tools, which resulted in videos that they posted on their social networks, promoting the event itself and thus achieving organic reach.
 Thanks to this approach, we managed to not only create a natural pre event buzz, but to this day, there are various interviews, posts and articles written about this event, not to mention that people are still talking about it themselves as well.

Sustainable practices

As we have mentioned before, we focused on sustainability in each and every part of the event and mostly- the scenography. We have gathered around 5 kilometers of old cables from all around Slovakia, which were representing the AI and data flowing all around us. We recycled them and even after the event itself, these cables are used to this day as a part of an art exhibition in Slovak National Gallery.
